10/10 food and service! The pupusas are authentic and bursting with flavor. You are given ENOUGH salsa and pickled cabbage (which is rare at restaurants nowadays) thank you so much for sharing your cuisine with Tacoma :)

Great service and my carne asada torta was delicious. The caldo de rez is always good!

First time and was great. My wife and I had Pupusa's, arroz and frejoles all was yummy and both salsa's / sauces are great one fire one mild perfect mix. Service was on point and Food was excellent..... I also had the Steak Taco yum.

Bean and Cheese, Zucchini and Cheese papusas To go Papusas are really good. Masa is moist. Always great when the veg options are good too

I'm not an expert on Salvadoran food by any means but all I know is I love coming here for their pupusas but also the huevos con chorizo! Soo good. Staff here is friendly, just make sure you don't come here in a hurry because the food can take a little while to come out sometimes.

Another great diner at El Pulgarcito III. This time I had the steak burrito which was superb. The staff is very friendly and nice. Cool El Salvadoran decor too!

The food is good - we came here for breakfast for the first time. I tried the pacalla (aka pacaya) in eggs. They were not noticeably fried first, as described on the menu, but I enjoyed the dish. Pacaya is a palm flower that is sort of similar in texture to baby corn and has a slight bitterness, less than bitter melon but a little like that. It was good in scrambled eggs. Husband had scrambled eggs (revueltos) which came with green pepper (bell not hot), onion and tomato mixed in. Both breakfasts came with a large scoop of thick sour cream, a big wedge of fresh cheese, and yummy refried black beans. They have a mild, thin tomato salsa and a hot salsa, both were good. We split a side of fried plantain which were delicious! The breakfasts also come with tortillas and here is my complaint. There was some strange upselling going on at the register which was pretty off-putting, to the point where I feel disinclined to come back. Tortillas come with breakfast, and the cashier gave us a choice of corn, flour or "handmade". There is no indication on the menu board about these choices or what they entail. Turns out, "handmade" tortillas are an additional $4.25 per order. This is fine, won't break the bank, etc. But it made our breakfasts much more expensive, from $13 or $14 to $18 each. I would have appreciated being told that the "handmade" adds a charge. The handmade tortillas were very good, freshly made and hot, thicker masa tortillas using the same masa they make pupusas from, and a large amount (4 large tortillas were included, per order). I might order them again, if I ever go back, but now I will be prepared for the additional cost. Also, I would not do this for each person because the 4 large tortillas were way too much food to eat in addition to my breakfast dishes. Related to this upselling issue, I managed to avoid being charged and given the fried plantain breakfast only by figuring out what was going on when he wanted a tortilla type for that also, after I clearly asked for a SIDE ORDER of plantains (a side order is on the menu just not anywhere near the list of breakfast options). And it was a bit of a struggle even after that to get just a side order, first the cashier just rang it up as a full breakfast with "no tortilla" and I saw the price and asked again, finally getting a side only, without other items added. There were only two of us ordering breakfast btw. We always order bottled water if we have an option and they do have that and the price was fair, $2 each. The service was as described above, since you order at the counter and the table service is pretty much just them dropping off your plate. The dropping off plate part was fine but not really what I consider table service. The runner did show up as we were boxing up our leftovers (the boxes are on a shelf near the counter for you to get yourself) and asked if everything was fine. A bit late but at least they asked.

What can I say other than this is awesome, hand made, fresh, delish Salvadoran food. You might see this place in passing and think....hmmm no thnx doesn't look popular. Do not be fooled. This is the definition of a secret hole in the wall place that will blow you away!!!! The star player here....pupusa. They have a few different kinds and they are all amazing. Here is the thing. They are made to order. You can taste it. You can smell it. Tacos were amazing. The hot sauce they have is oddly delish. I can't describe the flavor but it's like a spicy mole sauce. And it was the right kinda hot. The kind where I elected NOT to use tapatio sauce. IKR?!?!? Service was great. You order at the front and sit down. The food is brought to you. Very friendly staff. You can just tell that the entire place is warm. Not temp warm but people warm. Food warm. Experience warm. I will be returning. Very soon. I'd love to get 20 pupusa for some catering goodness.

Found via my favorite app, Yelp. It is a Salvadorian restaurant in a shopping center. We called to make sure that they have indoor dining. They have several booths and you get a menu and seat yourself. The menu is very extensive so it took awhile to decide. I went with the steak fajitas with flour tortillas. Also some chips and salsa. The chips were fried upon order so they were still hot when it came to the table. The fajitas got to the table and the steak had a great flavor and was very tender. The beans were very tasty and not chunky and more silky. All in all, I would go back when I'm in the area again.
